Gray Matters Capital excels at providing risk capital that is quick, flexible, and customized to the circumstances of the entrepreneur and the social venture. GMC deploys its $15 million fund into seed and early stage equity investments ranging from $250,000 to $2.0 million. GMC expects holding periods of 3 to 5 years and seeks reasonable exit opportunities.
GMC seeks to play an active role as a minority investor, focusing on providing value-added governance and engagement with the enterprises in its portfolio. For each enterprise in which it invests, GMC works with the entrepreneur to identify metrics that guide the business as a management tool but also convey the powerful systemic social impact that the enterprise seeks to achieve.
GMC offers a unique blend of access to other social ventures and entrepreneurs, like-minded allies and co-investors, commitment from skilled developers, and an opportunity to be mentored by people of experience and character.
